what do, er ..neurotypicals talk about anyway

what do normal people talk about? like what do people who don’t indulge in philosophical dialogue and the like—what do they talk about? like say they match on tinder or something… is it just small talk about work, tv shows, and weekend plans? is it just vibes and timing, no real substance needed? i don’t get it—how do people build connection without depth?

My in-laws engage in literally nothing but small talk. Almost none of their conversations are particularly substantive. My wife once got trapped on the phone with her mom who told her about the electrical sockets in her kitchen for 45 minutes.

That said I'm NT and I happily talk about ideas, politics, philosophy, the order of society, or make absurdist weird jokes. I don't *mind* small talk but certainly not my favourite.
