…that it’s appropriate, and even plausible, to promise someone you love that you’ll never hurt them? Don’t we, as humans, just naturally hurt those we love???

It's good to think twice before using the words [i]always, never, everyone, nobody[/i], and [i]perfect [/i]when you're being serious, as each takes only one counterexample to refute. Toss in [i]unique [/i]while you're at it.
