How do you believe in God?

But I am not really into rules dictated by the people who consider themselves the masters if religion

I pray five time and keep my faith in the almighty,and prefer to ignore the nonsense people preach

but i don't remember each and everything of it

In my opinion simple common sense is enough to distinguish between right and wrong in real day to day life than any holy book

i see a major problem with MUSLIMS and not ISLAM (not referring to you)

@FallenOptimist22: Respectfully, the word [i]Muslim[/i] means [i]acquiring peace by submitting our will to God[/i]. Therefore, if you consider yourself Muslim, you must follow the guidance and commands sent by God. Otherwise, you are not worshiping God.

@Madeleine: i am sorry to say,but i disagree,literal meanings of the words does not matter, as i said the problem is not with Islam or commands of God the problem is with the mindset of most of the muslims, most of them refused to evolve with time and are still stuck with the extremely regressive mindset
I don't think that is what God has asked us to do
We for sure can move ahead be modern,civilized and educated and at the same time have our morals

@FallenOptimist22: I understand your point, but this wasn't what I meant. The Quran is not just a text book, it's a revelation from God, and since you are Muslim, I would assume that you believe it's the word of God.

Regardless of how some Muslims misunderstand the religion or how they behave. The Quran is a gift from God to humanity, its teachings are what we need to be civilized, modern and educated. The Quran brings peace and joy to the heart of the one who recites it and studies it. It's our guide for our daily lives.. the more I personally study the Quran, the more it brings comfort to my heart and brings me closer to my Lord. If you are depriving yourself from the Quran, then you are missing out on so much.

@FallenOptimist22: I know. I'm just recommending it for you. I can relate to you in so many ways and I have been there before. I used to be someone who would pray five times a day and just try to be a good person. I thought this was enough for me.. I thought I was happy that way and the less I know about my religion, the better.. because this way I won't have to implement teachings that I don't know about.

I'm not sure about your age, but this used to be my state in my teens and 20s.. later, things happened in my life that made me turn to God bit by bit. Now, as my journey to learn Islam grows and my understanding of the Quran gets deeper, I realized that I wasn't as happy as I thought I was. My heart was missing the inner peace .. my life makes more sense now and I feel I am Muslim because I love Allah. it is the love that makes me worship my Lord. I just wish that you feel the joy that I find in the Quran.
