Why?
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
there's no evidence of gods.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: There's only one God. The One who created you.
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
there's no evidence for any gods
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: Just look at how your body is functioning, and you will know that there's a creator.
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
you haven't done that or you'd know what a poor design our bodies are!

what else you got? i am interested.

@jillluvsgirls: You seriously believe that all of this...These human lives...the love that people feel for you, this entire planet and it's people....The endless expanses of space comes from absolutely nothing?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: If you can't see how specifically your brain works, how your body is breathing and multitasking without any effort from you, and how each person has a unique fingerprint indicates that your body wasn't only created, but designed! .. Just look at the universe and how precisely was measured. When we learn the fact that the sun's diameter is about 400 times larger than that of the moon – and the sun is also about 400 times farther away. So the sun and moon appear nearly the same size as seen from Earth!
Sir Isaac Newton said:
“God created everything by number, weight and measure.”
And this is only one example I gave you.

Most of the greatest scientists believed in God, why? Because they understood and studied the universe, so they knew that there's no way a creation like that has no Creator.
“The more I study science, the more I believe in God.”
–Albert Einstein
“I believe that the more thoroughly science is studied, the further does it take us from anything comparable to atheism.”
“If you study science deep enough and long enough, it will force you to believe in God.”
- William Kelvin

@Ballisticboy: Who said i comes from nothing? I just said there is no evidence for any gods.
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
@Madeleine: the sun and moon only look the same size now. The moon is moving further away from the earth with each passing moment. 100,000 years ago they looked very different sizes as they will in another 100,000 years.

None of those scientists actually produced any evidence for the gods they might have believed in. They had a feeling but that is not evidence.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: I don't think you are seeing the point here. The example I mentioned to you regarding the sizes of the sun and the moon is an example of how precisely the universe is measured. This is not just a creation, it's a design. And there is no design without a designer.
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
@Madeleine: my point is that it seems precise right now. It hasn't a;ways been precise and it won't always be that way.

Do you see my point?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: Yes, I see your point. But the fact that the Universe is expanding doesn't go against its extraordinary design. People deny the existence of God just because they can not see Him, did you know that we can't see 96 percent of the space? We can’t even identify or understand what that 96 percent is made of. How about The One who created that space?

Just take a moment and observe the amazing creation of your body. Did you know that our brains are remarkably complex objects with a hundred billion neurons, a quadrillion connections, and scientists still know very little about how this organic super computer operates. Human brain is the most complicated thing scientists have yet discovered. It gives us the power to form language and culture, consciousness, the idea of self, the ability to learn, and understand the universe and reflect on our place within it.

With all of this, don't you think that human beings are here for a higher purpose than just existing?

If we take a moment and use our ability to reflect, no person with intelligence will be able to deny that there is indeed a Creator and Designer to all of this.

@Madeleine: Einstein once said that the more he learned about science and organisms...the more he began to believe in a designer...or "creator".
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
@Madeleine: So your basic argument is: There's some really cool stuff so there must be gods.

I'm not buying that at all.

Do you have a different argument that include evidence of some kind?

I hope you realize that your last sentence is very insulting. That is not a good way to persuade people or to demonstrate the virtues of a believer.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: It wasn't my intention to insult you personally, but if you felt that way, then I apologize.

I do not believe in God just by assumption, God had sent revelation to teach us about Himself. Have you read the Quran?
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
@Madeleine: How would any holy book be actual evidence for gods?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: The only way for you is to read it, and you will be the judged.

Here's a good English translation of the Quran, feel free to read it .. if you want

jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
Only way? What do you mean?
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: It's a book. If you want to know if it's from God or not, read it.
jillluvsgirls · 26-30, F
How can I tell if it's from a god? It's a serious question. "You just have to read it" is not a serious answer.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@jillluvsgirls: I am serious. If it's from God, you will know. The more I study the Quran, the more my belief becomes firm that this book can never be a work of a man. Read it, and if you have questions.. feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer you.

@Madeleine: The quran seems to promote a lot of killing of those who reject islam. If you're a muslim then I totally respect it. But overall, the purpose of religion should be to love god and our fellow human beings...It shouldn't matter which book you like or follow.
Madeleine · 41-45, F
@Ballisticboy: Thank you. I respect your freedom to choose as well. But in order for you to understand the Quran, you must study history and the reason behind every verse. The Quran was revealed in span of 23 years. During that time, Muslims were attacked by non-believers and there were a lot of battles going on. All the verses that talk about fighting are to encourage Muslims to hold on to their faith and to defend themselves.

The Quran has principles in it. And the main principle is to seek peace (whether with Muslims or people of other faiths), but if they wanted to fight Muslims, then Muslims must defend themselves, because the Quran also promotes justice.

[Quran 8:60-61]
"And prepare against them all the power you can muster, and all the cavalry you can mobilize, to terrify thereby God’s enemies and your enemies, and others besides them whom you do not know, but God knows them. Whatever you spend in God’s way will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged. But if they incline towards peace, then incline towards it, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Knower."
[Quran 60:8]
"As for those who have not fought against you for your religion, nor expelled you from your homes, God does not prohibit you from dealing with them kindly and equitably. God loves the equitable."
[َQuran 2:190]
"And fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not commit aggression; God does not love the aggressors."
@Madeleine: From what I read, the quran seems to favor men over women. Qur'an 4:34 Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property. So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret what Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High Exalted, Great.

I will always respect all muslims but the quran itself can't be the foundation for my faith and neither is the bible, but love itself.
