Avoid them. I do not want to hear the same story over and over, I’ll freak out on them. That’s something I can’t stand.

@Keepitsimple It’s homeless that refuse to get an ID or get signed up for the housing waiting list. There were 8 just in one spot in the older part of the city, a wooded area surrounded by housing. The social workers were aware of who these people were because they walk down to a nearby food kitchen and eat at least twice a day every day.

I’d put them to work cleaning the city. Give em a lawnmower and garbage bags and let them earn their free keep. I’m not one to give sympathy to eyesores in a city. Some people don’t aspire for better lives whether they have a caseworker or not. I know I sound mean but I live in a tourist area...those boneheads even hit the tourists up and then go gamble or buy drugs so they are very happy being homeless.@cherokeepatti

@Keepitsimple Can’t trust druggies to do anything. There are programs with others that are being used in Tulsa for trash clean up, mostly picking up litter. But the ones who refuse to help themselves also won’t keep a job or want to do any kind of work. The police here have cracked down on them panhandling and loitering in front of grocery stores and restaurants. A local Braum’s built a nice shaded patio outside the restaurant complete with picnic tables and fans to keep it cooler in the summer. There is a Salvation Army shelter a few blocks away and the homeless were hanging out there and asking for $ and now there about 8 signs on the fence around the patio warning them not to loiter or panhandle.

@Keepitsimple Have you ever watched a tweaker clean out their car? I have twice, once at Walmart and another time at a nearby gas station....the woman at Walmart left a big pile of trash on the parking lot after she cleaned out her car.

@cherokeepatti I’m one of those people who say take their tents and cardboard and throw them out and keep them moving. If they showed up by my business I’d have them removed Everytime for trespassing.

@cherokeepatti I don’t go to Walmart anymore, lol. Seriously....where I live you get stabbed. I’d have to drive 45 minutes to the first decent one. I see enough around here. It’s very diverse around where I live. 10 minutes either way means either the hood or millions of dollars.

@Keepitsimple The city has done it more than a few times here. There’s a meth camp at one of the places they cleaned up before. They said within 2 weeks they started coming back. I don’t know how but they manage to find more tents and crap to live in and more clothes etc. They found a dead man’s body in that camp about 3 months after they got it cleaned up, he probably froze to death in the winter and it was found by a visitor to the wilderness area..there is a fishing lake nearby. It’s costing the city money, big money to keep cleaning up these messes. I think if they refuse help they need to be taken far away to a mental hospital and left there.

@Keepitsimple I go to the newest one south of the city, it’s too far for the homeless to walk down there mostly people from a little town south of there or students or people who don’t want to go to the ghetto Walmart where I used to work. I don’t believe I’ve seen any incidents at that one on the south side at all, except one greeter talking to her lead telling her “there won’t be any trouble if you don’t start any trouble” in a very stern voice. (She is one of the sweetest employees there is at that store).
