I have not had a nick-name for years; but have done many decades ago.
I was once in a small club with less than twenty members, but of whom three of us shared the same Christian-name, so I think we adopted nick-names to overcome that difficulty.
My nick-name on here contracts the real "Arish Mell" two-word name - of a small bay on the SW English coast. I do not know its etymology, which is quite likely Old English (e.g. heavily Saxon-influenced).

@popmol a couple days after the start of the school year I was in my room room and turned around and kind of lost my balance and my shoulder hit the door post as I was leaving. One of my room mates just named me crash, and it stuck.
Ever week on Tuesday night they had a get together where bible majors would get practice delivering sermons. I signed up for on night and the turn out was huge, so a couple of my friends started calling me preacher.
On campus, there was no physical contact between men and women. They had a special area you could go to with your gf or bf and visit. This area was closely monitored. The slang term, if you were interested in a woman was "dealing" on them. I had one date and the guys picked up on it and started calling me "dealer".

it's people that were "alpha males" and against "beta males", mixing stereotypes, political sides and differences in men to make people on the internet to fight over, to than change it to sigma males because of "alpha ones" being associated with chauvanist and extremist.
so they decided to rebrand as "sigma males" to earn money by tricking gullible and vulnerable men by a fake lifestyle of muscle, cars, cigars and money and supermodels on their arms.
so again, if someone tell me they are a "sigma male" call someone a "beta male" "soy boy" or "alpha" i either think i'm sorry to hear you fell for their scheme or my god you find yourself that great and have that much of an ego you think yourself the greatest. a gift to the world.

not because you attack people you're a wolf you're just an aggressive dude who can't hold in his anger. now it might be true you lived in a shit place with loads of those people so you adapted to be equally aggressive and then you have a slight bit of my pity!
But to be the "true man" and awesome, you'd need to over come that and be the better man.
Also, just to throw a fun curve ball this all originated from "alpha and beta" which came from research about wolves, that there was an "alpha wolf" and a the others.
but the same researches and others found out that what he said was total nonsense and was because these were wolves in captivity that acted that way, and not even all wolves in captivity just that group!
so it's stupid stuff, based on falsehoods.
i'm sick and tired of this bullshit.
ps. i'm young, i remember what most people tell me certainly if they bring it up a lot. so i know you think of yourself as a "sigma" you definitely never need to repeat it again unless you stop with that stuff than i'd like to congratulate you!
