the howl of wolves in the wind
and the crashing of bears though the fallen trees
the snow falls softly though the woods
silently coating the forest
with its lack of warmth
and yet blanketing it
from further frost
sigh
the warm air steams from the nostrils of the living
and drifts like a mist in the breeze
and fades to nothingness
in the cold of winter
sunlight glitters on the flakes
and the world fades into night
as the owls call to each other
and the mice runs it ways
below the treetops in the sky
white with cold and pieced with stars
after night falls
and the sound of tents and bags zip close
and we cover our noses to sleep
the snow falls softly though the woods
silently coating the forest
with its lack of warmth
and yet blanketing it
from further frost
sigh
the warm air steams from the nostrils of the living
and drifts like a mist in the breeze
and fades to nothingness
in the cold of winter
sunlight glitters on the flakes
and the world fades into night
as the owls call to each other
and the mice runs it ways
below the treetops in the sky
white with cold and pieced with stars
after night falls
and the sound of tents and bags zip close
and we cover our noses to sleep
