was anyone part of the freak scene?

’m curious—was anyone part of the “freak scene” back in the mid- to late 1960s? When I say “freak scene,” I mean people who may have looked like hippies but were often described as “freaks”—an edgier, more urban subculture focused on intense psychedelic experiences, avant-garde art, and an aggressively bizarre, individualistic style.

I loved Moon King (Philip Williams the future NYC conceptual artist)

In Syracuse a few years before he became a New York fixture.

He lived with Mark Koernig the future optometrist and Sonny the God Seeker...

And I visited as Anna the Funky Girl Freak

Before my mother hauled me off to a nutter house and MLK died just before, then the hippie era stopped soon after...

But not before I traveled to Colgate with their friend Toad (lead banjo player with the Down City Ramblers and stellar future fame...) to hear

The Doors at Colgate U.

It all lasted about three SECONDS...

And will live in my smiling shy hippie memory

Till the end of my time!!!
