After that many years they didn’t keep track of me as closely as they used to. I cleaned the stables, so one day I let a horse go and hid. They assumed I had tried to escape and went searching for me. Then I loosed another horse in one direction which set them off in that direction while I actually rode off on a third horse

I don’t know what the town’s name was. It was somewhere in Russia. Anyway, they got me in touch with a group who helps slaves and they got me to the US
