What do you care really deeply about?
NorthernRoses 路 22-25, F
@CountScrofula Modern linguistics!

@NorthernRoses Elaborate! Are you studying this? Are you doing any kind of research?
NorthernRoses 路 22-25, F
@CountScrofula Not studying it currently, but it's super fun to research! I'm a linguistics and etymology nerd in general, but the way the language is developing is fascinating.

@NorthernRoses I'm with you on that. Language comes about in the strangest ways. English in particular since its such a hodgepodge of different languages. Although do you focus more on Norwegian? Or any other languages you may speak.
NorthernRoses 路 22-25, F
@CountScrofula I focus mostly on English! Norwegian isn't changing as quickly as it's not a "global" language, but it's changing, too. I focus more on Norwegian etymology than English etymology, though. 馃槃

@NorthernRoses That makes sense! And yeah, English is evolving so very, very quickly right now. Like - when I was 13 I was using most of the same slang I was when I graduated.
Nowadays it seems like there's new language coming up every single year. I like to keep up on slang because it's interesting to me but it comes and goes in months. And so much of it seems to come from black gay subcultures.
