Almost the wedding day
My 20-year-old nephew’s. I was talking with my younger sister about styling my wig.
“Wait. Why are you going to wear a wig?” my 14-year-old nephew asked.
I said it’s because I want to blend in and because my dress looks better with long hair.
“But you look cooler without it.”
🥹 Aw…
“You’re like Batman. 🙂”
Um… 🤨 What? Not the first time he compared me to a dude.
“Auntie Chelle always helps me when I’m in trouble,” he was telling my sister (his mom) a little while ago, “She’s like Aquaman.”
“That’s a good thing,” she explained, “It’s his favorite superhero.”
Okay. Odd, but okay. Also, I hardly helped him that time. He’d called me to pick him up so he wouldn’t have to walk a block to get back home. His mom said no, so he called me.
I was looking forward to the wedding, and now I’m anxious. So much rushing around, and nobody seems prepared for everything to take place. Last-minute party prep and transportation issues. Rain is going to mess up the bachelorette pool party idea. Still, my oldest nephew is getting married. How insane.
