🤸 WHICH COUNTRIES WILL WIN MEDALS IN OLYMPICS GYMNASTICS EVENTS? 🤸

🥇Welcome to SW Olympic Predictions!🥇

🔥By @adorbz and @NerdyPotato🔥

Write below all the countries that you think will win a medal in these events! You'll collect points every time they do.

Countries that don't normally win many medals are worth more points, but be careful - if you predict a country and they don't win anything, you lose points!

🤑 If you want, you can also predict how many medals each country will get - if you get those right, you win bonus points! 🤑

You can predict as many countries as you like! But you won't get any points for your country if they have already won a medal in this sport before your prediction was made.

@Mordi awh your machine didn't select the random cayman islands gymnast 🥺 probably for the best 🤪

@adorbz Also I think it has a fatal flaw. I'm not sure how qualifying works for the host exactly. Maybe Japan can send 100 people that have never played a sport, maybe not. That might skew things for me.

@Mordi
The main explanation for this increase is that qualification standards are lower for athletes from the host country. Olympic hosts are guaranteed a spot in each team sport. For example, the Brazilian men’s field hockey team will participate in its first Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Host-country athletes who compete in individual events also have an easier time qualifying for the games. In the triathalon, for example, hosts are guaranteed at least one competitor of each gender. While some of these “add-on” host country athletes aren’t good enough to contend for medals, elite athletes from the host may participate in more events than they otherwise would.

Not sure if this helps you out.

@Mordi i tried to google it but it seems to vary by sport and usually the international associations of each sport decide how much they get
adorbz · 26-30, F
@Kwek00 ooh that's a better explanation than what i found. and still doesn't fix mordi's system tbh 😅 well maybe japan's extra athletes will just be really really good? 😝
adorbz · 26-30, F
@Mordi wait you didn't even predict japan here 👀
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@adorbz Well, having some guaranteed spots doesn't nescessarily mean more medals. But it does increase chances of course. And there is the home team advantage, moral can push people to new heights.

Not sure if that article helps out, but I was curious after reading Mordis' thoughts. But apperently there is a lower bar for the home country to get players into the games.
Mordi · 31-35, M
Yeah, no Japan this time, even though they have a bunch of athletes in it.

Home country power boost will boost me to victory though. 🤷‍♂️

That quote explained everything I needed. "lower standards", means they still have some standards. 🤔
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Mordi Spots are limited Mordi, they can't just flood the games. Then they would take too long to finish. 🤷‍♂️

I don't know what the standards are for every discipline though... I'm not sure if I'm going to look all that up either 😅
