Because scarcity=value is a real principle in our society that many of us take seriously. Both due to conditioning and egoistic logic.

You don't want to miss out do you? What then? Your life will be ever impaired forever.

Before I say something, may I remind you that it's easier to preach than practice. FOMO is deep down in human nature. It's because of how we perceive things at that moment.

I try the following to break the chokehold. It works sometimes...
Everything we see and perceive is temporary. We ourselves are.
If this opportunity goes, another will come. And even if it doesn't, it's still okay.
What's the ultimate goal? There are many ways to get there.
How I feel is not important, most times.
I came into this world with nothing and I leave this world with nothing to take with me. Not even the intangibles. I'm just a drop in the ocean.

NIC0LE · F
@GoFish true. it just seems a huge portion of our fellow Americans have this unseemly disease and need to be cured of it yesterday.

Who's to say that living your best life isn't someone else's FOMO?
NIC0LE · F
@JohnnyNoir I mean that can be true...🤔

FOMO had a choke hold on me, once... Until I got a choke hold on FOMO.

What does FOMO stand for. I feel I'm missing out on something ... 😕

Hmmm... I fear I'm missing out on something here! 🫨

Its just keeping up with the Jonses in the digital age
GoFish ·
@NIC0LE because you never saw them in their day lol
NIC0LE · F
@GoFish I mean we have ultra rich people now and I still don't see anything special about any of them...so seeing them wouldn't have made a difference, I'm afraid.
bookerdana · M
@NIC0LE But ppl were always afraid the neighbors were one appliance ahead ets..it just is
Take people’s vast exposure to social media- where lives are typically portrayed as perfect- add to it the competitive nature of human beings and you’ve got some major league FOMO happening. Like Keeping up with the Joneses on steroids.
NIC0LE · F
@OlderSometimesWiser seems like an exhausting way to live, honestly. 🤔
@NIC0LE Absolutely, like being on a treadmill. You get very tired even though you’re not going anywhere.
