What's in a name?

Many respond to me simply as "frog". Or in the fuller "frogtongue". Both dropping one of the 'g's I find important to my identity. Does it matter? Should it matter? How important is your name to you? I want to hear both from others with unusual names and spellings as well as those with common names and spellings.
