Interaction with a homeless lady today
City i work in has a sizable homeless population. Many come to my work to get warm, use bathroom whatever. Im supposed to kick you out if you don't buy anything but as long as you don't cause trouble i don't care and let people stay especially in this weather. Now I've seen this lady on the corner panhandling before. Face always red from the cold. She came in saying she has $2 what can she get. Nothing you can get for that sadly so I just used my own employee number to comp her a coffee. I went over to another area to help a coworker and she asked me how old I was. I said 50 and she told me I still look young and to stay away from drugs and alcohol and to save as much money as I can. She kept emphasizing that. Well I did drugs in the past and had drinking issue but im good nowadays but i didn't share that information. Im broke like most people these days but ive been in her shoes.
Reminds me of something a friend of mine said once that poor people usually help other poor people more than anyone else. It's not the first time I've accidentally made an extra coffee or "messed up" some food. Could i get in trouble for this well yeah but im human first and screw corporations
