As violence against LGBTQ population is growing, many in the community have learned one thing......

Armed LGBTQ folks are way way less likely to be bashed..........

Guns don’t stop hate.

Never has.

@Adogslife Guns may not stop hate, but they may stop pogroms.
Israel is an excellent example of how to make sure another holocaust will not happen.

...guns to a gun owner is what booze is to a drunk. A gun gives a gun owner a false sense of courage, just as a shot of whisky gives a drunk a false sense of courage, typically referred to as 'liquid courage'.
@swirlie when Russia attacked the Ukraine, what got handed out to the Ukrainian citizens ?? It wasn’t whiskey.

@MayorOfCrushtown
Who's winning the war in Ukraine right now?

And guess which Nation with all the guns is NOT helping Ukraine to win?
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@helenS I do get it. I really do. But, we have too many guns now and too little real control.

Where else in the first world do you see school shootings so often? The legislation needs to concern itself not with gun ownership, but instead the regulation of automatic and semi-automatic weapons.

There’s a way that everyone can win and it’s NOT about everyone being armed to the teeth.
@swirlie why should the US be involved anyway ?? every time we get involved, the whole world screams and cries. Of course, when we don’t get involved, the whole world screams and cries.

@MayorOfCrushtown
The US should be involved with Ukraine because if the US does not get involved, Russia will be on America's doorstep before any American knows it.

That's what happened during WWII when the US had otherwise chosen to remain as an Isolationist Nation, which means they chose to sit on the sidelines and not get involved with the world war that was going on in Europe.

It wasn't until after Japan had invaded Pearl Harbor that Sir Winston Churchill of Great Britain informed the President of the USA that German submarines had been positioned at the entrance to New York Harbor for 6 months prior to Japan's invasion. Only then did the USA come out of mothballs and get involved.
@swirlie thanks for proving my point.

@MayorOfCrushtown
...and what was your point?

@Adogslife Why school shootings happen...
swirlie · 31-35
@MayorOfCrushtown
Don't hide in the closet on me there, big guy. Come on out here like the courageous gun slinger you're pretending to be and answer my question.
@swirlie sometimes, violence is necessary..... whether to protect oneself or ones country.
@MayorOfCrushtown Most times violence stops violence.
idontcareok · 70-79, M
@Adogslife they don't stop hate, but they stop the people who hate

Guns don’t stop hate.

Never has.

Was that supposed to be profound? Deep?

Hate is not a tangible or physical entity so bullets can’t touch it.

But they sure can destroy the source of “hate”. With extreme prejudice!

Did you really need that explained to you?
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Thrust Name a source of hate that guns have destroyed via personal ownership…

Btw, I’m not anti-gun. I just happen to believe automatic and semi-automatic weapons need better licensing regulations.

Can you recall a time when the US needed guns to protect the USA from foreign adversaries?
Thrust · 56-60, M
@Adogslife

Name a source of hate that guns have destroyed via personal ownership…

Are you for real? Are you kidding me?

Gee, how about destroying any human or animal threat that hates the gun holder?

Guns are a RIGHT not a privilege. You have no hope of restricting them. At all.

@swirlie if you knew of a country or a group who was extremely well armed, would you be in a rush to attack them.
swirlie · 31-35
@MayorOfCrushtown
You didn't answer my question... and don't attempt to answer my question by asking me an unrelated question.
@swirlie like when the British attacked the American colonies on April 19, 1775. Or when the Confederacy first attacked the United States (Union) when the Union held Fort Sumter in Charleston, SC.
swirlie · 31-35
@MayorOfCrushtown
...so you have to go back 250 years to come up with an example of when the US actually had to last defend it's sovereignty?!

...and because of what happened 250 years ago, that became your justification for everyone carrying guns in America today?
@swirlie I had nothing to do with that. A bunch of dudes who got together to smoke cigars and write the constitution.
