Try to use the skills from your day to day job and apply them to weekend/evening gigs.
If your work doesn’t directly correlate, you can always pick up a new skill.
Id see what side gigs are in most demand near you online and try and single out what you can or are willing to learn and do.

I knew a guy who's wife used to roam around swap meets and garage sales to buy stuff that she'd then resell through ebay. if there's something you're kinda rainman about knowing the value of, that tends to be a somewhat to fairly viable way. get some narrow focus on things you know well/are a good judge of character about and hit garage and estate sales when feasible. it's not a fantastic ROI, but it's not terribly hard hard work, but you do have to have a solid knowledge of what has how much value and how quickly you'll be able to move stuff you buy.

@Adogslife Those are actually my favorite pieces to work on. Just seeing the beauty of the wood grain come back to life is a priceless feeling! But yes, it often takes A LOT of elbow grease, high quality chemicals, a heat gun, a stiff bristled brush, heavy duty chemical gloves, a ventilator, and a good orbital sander. All of which I have in my work shop! Lol.
@NYCChick A lot of people spend all day on facebook marketplace hitting refresh, and as soon as a deal comes up they message the person they want to buy it.
Some people have things they are tired of looking at and just want it gone, so you can pick up a deal, but you have to be the first to message or you miss out. Sellers don't care that you are going to part it out, or melt it down or never actually use it or whatever.

Now that I think about it, most of my side hustles involved selling weed or guns 🤔 weed was illegal but the guns I sold legally. I even built & sold bikes for a few years when I was 19.

@Thrust yeah you assumed correct 😅 it's just a term for buying cars, fixing them & making them nice, then selling them hopefully for more than you put into it.
