Short answer: it depends on what you count as a “door” or a “window.”

If you include all doors—room doors, closet doors, cabinet/pantry/fridge doors, car doors, etc.—doors probably win. Homes and offices have lots of cupboards and wardrobes, which add a ton of doors with few or no windows to match.

If you limit it to building and vehicle openings only (exterior/interior room doors vs. windows in walls and vehicle glass), windows likely win, thanks to glass-heavy high-rises, buses, and trains (many windows, few doors).


So the winner flips with the definition. Want a quick settle-at-home version? Count in your house:

1. Building/vehicle openings only → windows often win.


2. Including cabinets/appliances/furniture → doors often win.

in general? id say its virtually certain that there are . more windows. it probably gets closer if you include internal doors and both oversized and undersized doors (garage rollup doors and medicine cabinets)

Depends on the building I'd think. Potentially, there can be more doors than windows..given that there's a limited external surface area in which to install windows and the volume of the interior can be divided to have rooms without windows.

I’m gonna go with windows. Each building usually has more windows than doors so logically it only seems right that if added all up there would be more windows. Maybe? Lol
