Yes many times, occasionally on purpose. On the plus side the other person needs cheering up so a huge smile/grin emoji is just the thing but yeah some take it as condescending.

@Gingerbreadspice I read that the young generation here have "cancelled" the thumbs up emoji because it's offensive and insulting. How weird!
