Yes. What Americans call a billion is called a thousand million elsewhere. Also a "milliard". In those countries one billion corresponds to the US trillion.

Yep! After a miljoen, we go to miljard, then biljoen and then triljoen. So for big amounts, we're a factor 1000 off, or you are, depending on your view.
