Your injury sounds close to what I had....

My insurance cheapened out way back when and insisted on pins and screws (I saw the x-rays.... most people would call those 'pins' small bolts)...

In any case..... that setup lasted 20+ years but the pain kept getting worse and worse till it started to adversely affect my "quality of life" (buzzwords that will get an orthopedic surgeons attention very quickly). Additionally, the way they pinned it together caused me to have a noticeable limp.

So more x-rays and wow.... it showed 'bone on bone'.. Like DUH...

So this past year they did a robot assisted total hip replacement and lengthened my affected leg at the same time. No more pain and no more limp. I even told the surgeon the other day at a follow-up that "Had I known how good the results of this procedure would be, I'd have insisted on it 5 years ago."

Good luck with your surgery, keep your fingers crossed.

@Threepio I just noticed today the shortening of my leg compared to the other ... Mine only lasted around 5 months I don't even remember what it feels to not be in pain ... Glad yours finally got you out of the pain I wouldn't wish it on nobody...I've also had others to tell me their total replacement immediately that they could tell a difference with the pain...
@Beautyinbroken Yeah.... the shortening of the leg causes you to "roll" when you walk...and thereby your joint starts to wear disproportionately.... eventually causing a "bone on bone" issue. (at least that is what my surgeon told me).

The ONLY drawback to a total replacement is you will set of the scanner at the airport EVERY TIME..... 😂

@Threepio that will not be a issue cause I don't fly ever 🤣
@Beautyinbroken Me neither. But I have to escort the younger grandkids to the gate so I have to go thru TSA with my "gate pass" several times a year. I've done it so many times now that I've become extremely familiar with the hand searches and so I dress appropriately. IE: wear sweats without a belt, carry the bare minimum stuff in your pockets and so forth.....
