Question about New York City?

I’m confused about New York City.
Is Brooklyn NYC or no?
What about Manhattan?

Would someone from Queens say they are from Queens or NYC?

Can someone explain?

NYC has five boroughs -- Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. When one says "NYC", they usually mean Manhattan.
