Hmm...my dad was always super into this and built a couple radios and had one of those big nifty electronic programming kits and loved to mess around with electronics. I remember him complaining that a good chunk of his electronics and radio diy books and pdfs were crap. But some were good...and I can't remember any of them. I wish I could just send you to him to learn. He'd probably love it. 😁
I'd just google lots and don't underestimate pinterest.com. I've made use of a few cool electronic diys there. :)
