Saw this quote when I was out today

4meAndyou · F
Give us liberty, or give us death!

No flies on Patrick Henry, one of the ORIGINAL GANGSTAS of the USA.

"Patrick Henry was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and the first governor of Virginia. A gifted orator and major figure in the American Revolution, his rousing speeches—which included a 1775 speech to the Virginia legislature in which he famously declared, “Give me liberty, or give me death!”—fired up America’s fight for independence. An outspoken Anti-Federalist, Henry opposed the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, which he felt put too much power in the hands of a national government. His influence helped create the Bill of Rights, which guaranteed personal freedoms and set limits on the government’s constitutional power."

@4meAndyou Great reply. Love this.

What if I told you that there's zero evidence that Jefferson said that? Would it matter? I know the fear and tyranny thing appeals to some. Maybe that's you but maybe it's not.

If not, here's one you might like more, which IS true, by a former President. One who served when electricity was a thing.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
-Franklin D. Roosevelt

As an American, that one's a winner in my book. Maybe yours too.

@Sojournersoul Just because you find things online doesn't make it true. Can't ever forget that dude.
@Ynotisay Funny when moose said he researched it you were patting him on the back. That was his source too.

@Sojournersoul I didn't know what you were talking about but I just looked. I don't get your point. You went to that site? Do you know anything about Monticello? Not just the location but what they do? And did you see that quote? No. You didn't.
Believe it or not, there really are smart people in the world. And facts matter to them. It matters to historians and academics. Those words that were shared in this post? Which have been co-opted by those who need fear and enemies? He didn't say them. Full stop. Now you'll probably tell me I'm wrong. Or naive. Because, I don't know, feelings. But when it comes to truth...fuck feelings.
@Ynotisay Of course i went to the site way before he ever posted the link. I am assume you knew all about it before he posted the article on this tread. I care about the facts and they matter, do you really think they have every single quote from him listed. I knew this post would trigger you, as do all post like this. He may or may not have said it but dont say you know without a doubt he didnt.

@Sojournersoul "Trigger?" Are we still running with that one little guy? There's NOTHING you could do or say that I give two shits about. I just love watching manipulated people twist in the wind to find their own facts and truths. They're truly like children. It's why covid and climate change is hoax. It's fucked up and I'll never, ever understand it. Here's how it works tiger. When quotes are attributed to historical figures they come through things they wrote or speeches that were heard by many and transcribed. He wrote a lot. Gave a lot of speeches. Never wrote or said this. But "Believers" don't care. Believers believe in horseshit texts written by those who make shit up and attribute to others. Like religious texts. So I'm not sure you really care about the facts. You're arguing for something because, I'm assuming, you like that quote. Makes you feel strong or something. That's why it's out there in the first place and held on to be weak ass gun freaks. So lame. Please don't write me on this again, ok? Thanks.
@Ynotisay it is my post, I will do what I like, if you don’t like it, stay off my post. You know everything, know everyone, done all that.
suddenly I was thought of Abraham
Umile · 41-45, F
Makes sense.
@Umile I thought so too.
JovialMoose · 46-50, M
I didn't think it sounded like Jefferson so I did a fact check...
@JovialMoose what are your facts? Who said it?
JovialMoose · 46-50, M
@Sojournersoul Dear god... just use google. In case you didn't know... Monticello was his estate.
