A quote from Benjamin Franklin

"Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved, and tyranny is erected on its ruins."

Relevant then, and even more relevant today, especially online where on certain sites, we are censored by tyrants. They say you can say this, but you can't say that, who are they to say?

You realize that he was talking about the educated and the sensible. Society has lost its sensibilities. Free speech remains as important today as then however if the framers of the constitution were around today they might have a very different take on freedom of expression and other freedoms.
