Pride can be a very positive thing. Arrogance, however, is another matter. Humility is a useful counter-balance.

It’s complicated. When pride in oneself is about self-esteem it’s a positive thing, especially something you’ve been made to feel ashamed about. It’s a negative thing when it’s about feeling superior to others.
