I’m just curious, has owning a gun ever actually protected you or is more of just a peace of mind
Just like knowing you have a gun in your house if you need it, it’s there?

Just one more comment here on this matter then I quit. I would like you and some others here to think seriously about this. Since man has been on this planet we haven't become advanced enough that we haven't always had knuckle draggers that want to do bad things to others. Weapons have been a means of protection from those that want to do us harm. If this world were that advanced we would not have idiots running countries like Iran, North Korea, China and others that enslave people, kill people that do not follow their thoughts. Nor would we need bombs, war planes and war ships and weapons of ass destruction. You may have never been attacked or had your life threatened up to this point but that does not mean it will not happen to you or a relative that might require a gun and you might live in what is a safe place. Not everyone enjoys your safe way of life in a safe place. We have places today as you can see on the news daily where some insane person goes about killing others, there are gangs that kill each other but also kill innocents that get in the way. When you or someone else finds a way to wave their magic wand eliminate hatred, insanity, racism and stupidity we will have to have a means to defend ourselves. Baseball bats, hat pins and nasty words do not work against someone with a gun or hell bent on killing others. We did have the death penalty in most states but liberals have removed that, we used to allow people to open carry guns in most places but that has been eliminated in most places by liberals, killing someone in self defense of your or someone else's life is now an act that can get you in trouble. This country is going to hell due to liberal minded thinking and it will get worse if we take guns away form law abiding people and continue to not rid this country of those that are not.

Oh of course not. They also turn a blind eye on how gun control ALWAYS fails to stop gun crime and only turns victims who try to defend themselves into criminals. I guess we’re all supposed to just curl up into a fetal ball, piss ourselves and pray the bad boogeyman isn’t gonna rape our kids. @acpguy

@SweetNSassy Tell me and try thinking; do you think even half of unbalanced people seek help? If a person is and they want to hold onto or get guns they are especially not going to seek help. I have nothing against a 10 day waiting period to obtain a gun so a thorough background check can be performed. But there are many out there that have no history that are nuts.
You are missing other very important points. Mass murder can be done very easily without guns or hand weapons and probably kill more people and do it more easily. Look how many were killed on 911 by a bunch of nut case terrorists using box cutters....no guns....they also used airplanes that were legally registered. Look back to Paris and even here in the USA at how many were killed using trucks...no guns. And you want to speak of killing lots of people look at Chicago where they have extremely strict gun laws and concealed carry is illegal unless you are a LEO or have some other very good reason. Hundreds of people are killed with illegal guns wielded people with extensive crime records. Guns can be made easily if need be, but even if we take away all the guns, like I stated there are other methods of killing that are easy and can kill a lot more people than what we are seeing done with guns. Try some creative thinking. You can make a nasty bomb with Chlorox, aluminum, nitric acid and lots of other things you can buy in a hardware store. My wife makes homemade soap and in part of the process she is only one step away from having nitro glycerin.
