I’m just curious, has owning a gun ever actually protected you or is more of just a peace of mind

Just like knowing you have a gun in your house if you need it, it’s there?

It has actually protected me or my property, twice. But even if it hadn't, i own guns because I like them, enjoy shooting and it's my right to have them if I choose.
