I never ask questions I wouldn't answer
So here's mine:
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?
The person who loves me and wants to spend their time with me.
Would you like to be famous? In what way?
No. Being famous this day and age is frightening and honestly, people are just too weird to want that kind of massive attention on me.
Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?
I used to. Mostly because I have a really bad trait of having my words get all jumbled up when I try to speak, so I want to sometimes prepare my words. Mostly now though, if my words get jumbled up,we'll, it's just one of my quirks.
What would constitute a "perfect" day for you?
A perfect day is one where I get to be productive but also able to enjoy the things I want to and feel rested and content.
When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?
Gosh...I tend to sing without thought. Maybe Monday in the car on the way home? I really don't know. If you are around me when I'm singing, I'm singing to you.
If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?
I would want the body of a 30 year old. How is this an either/or question? There's obviously a primary choice after you pass 30.
Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?
I used to. I used to believe that I woukd die before the age of 32 in a car crash. Since that didn't happen, well the sky's the limit. I don't worry about it anymore.
Name three things you and your partner appear to have in common.
Since I don't have a partner, these are the things I want in common:
Knowledge of many things
Desire to grow
The desire to be what each other needs
For what in your life do you feel most grateful?
Myself. I have done so much, experienced so much and have so much because I dared to do what I wanted.
If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?
Oh man...everything. literally everything.
Take four minutes and tell your partner your life story in as much detail as possible.
I was born and raised in Southern CA until I was 26. I studied literature, psychology, and anthropology. I moved from CA to AZ, GA, WA and then VA where I have been since 2008. I have done far too many careers to count or say in 4 minutes. Any other info, feel free to ask.
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
It would be to physically do all the things I want to do without having to save my energy.
If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future, or anything else, what would you want to know?
Nothing. I have done and am all that I have wanted to be and honestly, I like knowing the future is mine to create.
Is there something that you've dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven't you done it?
I have dreamed about completely redoing my entire house from inside to outside and a huge garden. I haven't due to time, energy and money. Plus, doing it alone is extremely daunting.
What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?
I don't think I really have one. I have done many things I'm proud of, but I don't think any of them are exceptionally great.
What do you value most in a friendship?
I value just being who I am around my friends. To know we can talk aboit everything from politics to smurf lore and it all is not judged but enjoyed.
What is your most treasured memory?
Hmmm...I don't tend to live in the past and nostalgia isn't something I dabble in. Maybe travelling to Scotland and Ireland, but honestly, I loved being there, but I don't know if I can consider it a treasured memory.
What is your most terrible memory?
Gosh...again, there are a lot of memories. I couldn't categorize them by good or bad. I've had a lot of bad memories I live with. I don't think I can rate them mostly becausethey are all relative to the time.
If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?
I would probably get my things in order for my family and then take each day as it comes. I certainly wouldn't be wasting it working.
What does friendship mean to you?
Friendship means being there for each other. Being willing to listen and offer what your friend needs. Accepting your friend for who they are. And of course, really good times.
What roles do love and affection play in your life?
Currently, none, not having a partner. But they are important to me. I think it is important to express these things to your partner and they do the same. It means way more than sex or sexual attention. Affection and love are very deep forms of appreciation and when honestly expressed are amazing.
Alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic of your partner. Share a total of five items.
Since I don't have a partner, what I would like to say is:
Compassion
Thoughtfulness
Practical
Caring
Understanding
How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people's?
Not at all. My family growing up was very manipulated. With my kids, I try to remain close, positive and supportive because those were the things I neber got. And while my childhood wasn't as bad as some of my friends growing up, it certainly wasn't better by any means.
How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?
I don't talk to my mom anymore, but I still love her. Mostly, I feel sad for my mom.
Make three true "we" statements each. For instance, "We are both in this room feeling..."
Hmmmm...what I hope is true:
We appreciate each other in our similarand differences
We enjoy each other's company
We are able to be there for each other in love and understanding
Complete this sentence: "I wish I had someone with whom I could share..."
Our lives together and appreciate what each brings to each other simply by being ourselves.
If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be important for them to know.
I would absolutely hope to be close friends with my partner! What would be the point?!
I think what I would want them to know is that, I may show confidence and assuredness in myself, I do want and need help. I will ask, but if I have asked, it means I've become aware that I can't do something alone. I do need to be assured you love me. It can be in small things that show you're thinking of me. It doesn't have to be grand gestures. I will also worry that you are unhappy with me even when you are not. That is my abandonment issues and issues from growing up where I was always walking on egg shells. If you provide a supportive, secure and safe space where I can trust and be myself, I become quite a different person and my love is really very large. Be patient with me, be supportive and let me know you are with me through all my insecurities and I become a devoted lover.
Tell your partner what you like about them; be very honest this time, saying things that you might not say to someone you've just met.
I would like to say:
I love how I feel relaxed around you and that I can be myself.
I love that we can talk about anything and we just have conversations, not debates
I love that I know I can come to you with a problem and you will actively listen and actively ask questions to help me process things
I love that you want to help me with the projects I want to get done and are excited about them as I am
I am so happy you want to spend your life with me.
Share an embarrassing moment in your life.
Just wait. You'll see one. No need to tell you. They happen daily.
When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?
I don't remember. I don't cry often. Years can go by without tears.
Tell your partner something that you like about them already.
That they are into me. That's amazing!
What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?
I don't know. I have pretty nihilistic gallows humor. If I don't laugh at something bleak, I'll give up on life.
If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven't you told them yet?
Luckily, I am pretty open with my thoughts and feelings. I also make sure I don't deal with regrets, so I act on anything that I feel I'll regret having not done. So probably nothing because I've already said it.
Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?
Aside from family and pets, nothing. It's all just stuff. I'd be sad, but in the end, it is jist things.
Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?
Either of my children.
Share a personal problem and ask your partner's advice on how they might handle it. Then, ask your partner to reflect on how you seem to be feeling about the problem you have chosen.
This is a thing I will always do for a problem I'm having a hard time resolving.
