Oh, man! I'm almost 27 and I still didn't figure out how exactly I'm supposed to answer "Where are you from?"

Usually - "I live in (name of place)
and have been here (amount of time)".

They might ask where you were born, raised, etc, in which case say those.

Some people take that question as microracist - as in implying that you don't belong here. That might be so for some, even unconsciously.

But in reality people have been moving around a lot ever since Marco Polo and the Renaissance. Or even before, depending on how far back in history you want to go.
We are all immigrants or descendents of immigrants in one way or another.

In one way, only indigenous peoples could say they really belong on their original lands.
In another way, all of us belong wherever we make our home and contribute to everyone's well-being through our work.
