What do you prefer to hear if it's relevant, a beautiful lie,

or an ugly truth?
Viper · M
Honestly, depends what mood I'm in and the circumstances.

Overall, I like knowing the truth. But there is a time and place for everything...

As I have a family member whom tells the truth (which in theory is great), BUT they have absolutely ruin beautiful moments and completely stirred sh!t up and created so much freaking drama by telling the truth at absolutely wrong moments.

Like if a female family member has put on a lot of weight, you don't go up to her and bluntly make a smart @$$ eating food comment that pokes fun of her weight...

What he said was true... but everyone already knew she had gained a lot of weight, there is no reason to mention it or be a d!ck about it... but that's just it, in his mind, he's just telling the truth.

So I like knowing the truth but speaking the beauty.

Or at least not stirring a whole bunch of stuff up among family...

Also got a uncle I'm law whom I'm sure loves to troll and just say outrages things to get people... example, he loves Hillary Clinton, hates Barack Obama, and loves Donald Trump.

At family events, I usually want that uncle just to shut up... because I'm pretty sure he's just stirring the pot on purpose getting others riled up. He's all about entertainment and being in the center of it.

@Viper Agree with this as long as one is not feeding other a bunch of false hope knowing they will eventually let that person down and leave them hurt.

@NewBeginnings7790 Absolutely, to me that's manipulation and in my mind, that does not fall under a beautiful lie...

Though it probably should, but in my mind manipulation to that degree is it's only horrible category and should not be called beautiful, not even beautiful lie.

@Viper There's a feeling of fun in both, at times.

I prefer truth…

I have enough fairytale lies that live in my head
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@NewBeginnings7790 Never stop dreaming.

I’d rather hear the ugly truth from the beginning and process it early on. Eventually the beautiful lie gets found out and it turns ugly very quickly.
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@cherokeepatti Same is true for cute facts too. Flattery for instance.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@YMITheWayIM yeah I’m not a fan of flattery. I don’t mind an occasional compliment or someone saying they appreciate something I’ve done though. But flattery seems like a way of making a person who is giving it feel like they are special for doing it.

@cherokeepatti True 🤭

Online: A beautiful lie, 'cause something about me made the writer think it up.
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@katydidnt Makes sense.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
Give me the ugly truth every damn time
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@AlchemyFox Can be arranged.
Delact2023 · 46-50, M
I will take the lie
