When Berlin was divided, that gate was in East Berlin, the Reichstag was in West Berlin, and across the river was East Berlin, too.
Look up JFK's visit to Berlin--he gave a speech there in front of the gate in the West.

@SW-User It's a liter all told, with 0.5 l wheat beer and 0.5 l lemonade, along with the half-chicken; so you're eating, but the Radler is designed to let you drink at lunch, be refreshed, but go back to work NOT drunk (as my co-workers explained to me). lol
