Your muscles don't use energy to move. But they do use energy to relax after moving. This is why rigor mortis sets in after death.

muscles need energy to produce contractions. the energy is derived from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) present in muscles
@fakable I asked my brother who's in the medical field. He said you're right, they use energy to contract. He said they also use energy to relax. So rigor mortis sets in when they contract but don't relax again.
