What were your most tearful and poignant moments of the funeral of HRH Queen Elizabeth II?

Most tearful moment: When her royal bagpiper walked away from the church 😔🤍

Most poignant moment: No surprise there…I was moved by the very elegant bouquet of flowers that adorned the coffin of the most powerful and loved ruler in the world. 💐

At King Charles’s request, the wreath on top of the Queen’s coffin contains flowers and foliage from the royal properties of Buckingham Palace and Clarence House, in London, and Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. Also at the King’s request, the wreath was sustainable, and affixed in a nest of English moss and oak branches.
The wreath contains myrtle, the ancient symbol of a happy marriage, cut from a plant that was grown from a sprig of myrtle in the Queen’s wedding bouquet in 1947. It also contains rosemary as a symbol of remembrance and English oak, a national symbol of strength, in a nod to the Queen’s constancy and steadfast duty. Other foliage includes pelargoniums, garden roses, autumnal hydrangea, sedum, dahlias, and scabious.

It was far from perfect….or was it? 🫶🏼💐

May The Queen’s soul rest in heavenly peace 🙏🏼💝🥀🤍💐 Amen 🙏🏼

@Vivaci now I’m crying like a baby watching the videos of her corgis and her horse wait for her 💔
She was a wholesome soul 😭…. I think the wanna dick-tators should watch and learn from her on how to rule …conquer ….and be remembered/respected by people of all religions. @GLITTER

@GLITTER Interesting that all that stuff - the flag, flowers, and other implements - were left on there for burial. In contrast with American state funerals, where there's nothing but the flag, which is removed, folded in a tight triangle, and presented to the widow or other family member.

@RedBaron i think they move her again to her final resting place, they probably take all flowers off at that point

@Vivaci But one thing occurs to me. How does England reconcile being a Christian monarchy, symbolically or otherwise being run by the Church of England, with the values and needs of various racial, ethnic, and religious communities in a diverse country? I heard that a rabbi said that as a Jewish person, he feels like a tolerated guest rather than an equal member of society.
@RedBaron I’ve lived there for a few years and I felt so welcome there always. People walking on streets greeting each other politely, no gun culture, lots of tolerance to weirdness and people with a good sense of humor….what more can you ask from any country you’re visiting for short/long term?

@Vivaci But are you a religious or ethnic minority? The queen’s funeral was beautiful and moving, but it clearly demonstrated that the Church of England holds sway in the country’s culture unlike anything we have here in the states. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but I wonder how those who aren’t white and Christian feel about it.
