If you went to college on a student loan and paid it back how do you feel about Biden forgiving all this student debt of current students.

It is just buying votes using tax payer dollars.
Todays students are more deserving of having their debt forgiven.
The whole government load system is responsible for running up the cost of college.

If you’ve paid off your student loans, good for you. What does that have to do with anyone else’s situation?

@AbbySvenz Exactly.

@windinhishair Just this thing called fairness. Why should you get your college paid for while I had to pay off mine. What did you do to deserve that.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Johnson212 Life isn't fair. Get used to it. Republicans support hedge fund managers paying taxes on their obscene payments at a long term capital gains rate of 15% instead of as income. That isn't fair either. There are lots of things that aren't fair, and we decide as a society where to direct our money. Paying off some student loans has far more positive impacts than just to the individual. That money gets spent on more things and stimulates the economy.

If you believed someone who told you life was supposed to be fair, maybe you need to go back to school @Johnson212

@windinhishair I am mixed on this one. I hope it’s distributed somewhat fairly. I know life isn’t fair but we should still strive for it if possible. I’m just afraid this is going to be like a participation trophy to a generation that got way too many to begin with. I do feel the further education system needs to change!
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Handfull1 The education system absolutely needs change. Ideally, people should be able to get educated to the limit of their abilities, and desires, either free or close to free. Then family wealth wouldn't be the primary discriminator.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@windinhishair no simple answers really. Maybe if the wealthy were taxed more fairly, I wouldn’t oppose. In reality, they’d be paying more for education then. They won’t like that either!
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Handfull1 There really are no simple answers to anything. Just choices and making the best ones possible.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@windinhishair unfortunately that’s very subjective.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Handfull1 Not always. Sometimes the choice is crystal clear. Like deciding whether to breach police lines, attack the Capitol, threaten to hang Mike Pence, and destroy property while trying to overthrow a free and fair election. There is no justification at all for that.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@windinhishair I agree with all of those. But then there are the ones not so black and white. 🤔🤔
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@Handfull1 Of course. Most issues fall somewhere in the gray.

EVERYTHING

Sorry, you’ll have to be more specific. @pdockal

@AbbySvenz

Nobody forced anybody to go to college so why forgive that debt
Nobody forced you into that curriculum so why forgive that debt
Get a job first and figure out how to pay for it and no debt to forgive
I've paid my debt so why am i paying yours (my taxes are used to pay this debt)

Shall i continue ?????
AbbySvenz · F
Yours, and everybody else’s. Including those whose debt would be cancelled.

Its not like the entire amount is coming out of your pocket @pdockal
