They're blaming the price of gas going up on Hurricane Ian that demolished Florida. Problem is that there is NO Refineries in Florida and NO Oil Wells off the Coast of Florida.

@dakotaviper The price hike we're experiencing now, has nothing to do with shutting down of offshore drilling, despite what the OP says. This is like saying that the price hike is due to the shutting down of the keystone pipeline extension, But this is the OP's MO.
The reason prices are higher at the pump, is that a a larger number of refineries decided to simultaneously shut down for maintenance. I tend to believe they did it on purpose, to score some political points, and they should be prosecuted for it. This has nothing to do with Ian.

@Northwest well in my area of Eastern NC, they're reporting that it's because of Ian's destructive path through Florida. Here's one thing that I do know. I filled my Chevy Silverado's 27-gallon tank up 14 days ago paying $2.819 per gallon x 24.367 gallons = $68.69. Yesterday (10/08/22) I filled up paying $3.999 per gallon x 23.717 gallons = $94.84. Both fill-ups were done at the same Circle K station. I think it's 100% political with the current rise. Unfortunately, Biden and his cronies have made some gains recently. But if the Republicans can move the focus back to higher prices and the border, then the Left's gains will fizzle out.

@dakotaviper Weird, because no refineries were hit by Ian. Usually, refineries shut down for maintenance during fall, as it'a slower driving season. This year, a bunch of refineries shut down, not due to Ian, or scheduled maintenance.

The environmental fanatics who direct our energy policy are rich enough to afford $70,000 EVs and pay the skyrocketing costs of everything else. They do not care about poor and middle class Americans.
