It turns out that about 2/3 of X/Twitter's MAGA and far-right accounts are based in Russia, Nigeria, India, Bangladesh and other non-Americas.

I wonder why Musk, the arbiter of free speech and the truth, would turn off the location feature?

How about for users' privacy?

If a person is traveling, why does everyone need to know where the are?

Or maybe that's simply the server location. Or maybe they are using a VPN.

For features like "About this account" location labels, X pulls origin country data from the IP address used during signup and a history of access points. This provides a general country of origin but can be inaccurate if a VPN or proxy was used during account creation or subsequent logins.
