What is your opinion of the claims that the DOGE is finding billions in government waste?

Well, originally they were releasing enough information that some of it could be fact checked and reporters found that most of it was total BS.

So they changed it, releasing less information, making it impossible to fact check... so it's probably still mostly BS.

Also, Musk claimed DOGE found billions in waste from SSA, but that was found and corrected over a decade ago. SSA reviewed it, and it could cost 100 million to update the system, so they decided to save the money and just keep old system, but those numbers would still be listed, but they knew it was wrong, and therefore were giving $0 to them. Musk found it, and claimed he found a paper saving of billions, and on paper it was, but in actually dollars is was a savings of $0 as the correction was already in place before DOGE was even formed, and it actually cost money to review it, so it actually lost money, but Elon is claiming it saved billions.

I believe DOGE MIGHT have actually found billions in waste, but when you factor in their costs, I believe it's less than $15 billion instead of their claims of $180 billion.

Also, there are some estimates that the IRS employees cuts will be costing $240 billion per year, starting in FY26.

So if you believe that estimate and the DOGE estimate, then Trump and DOGE have cost the American Tax Payers $60 billion for the next fiscal year. And that's assuming the DOGE are correct this time, when they have been BS in the past.

Using the most independent numbers, DOGE has cost the American tax payers $225 billions.

So yes, DOGE "saved" ($15 to $180 billion), but they also costed ($240 billion) for a net loss.
