I do not know the full truth in all this, nor do I know American law, but as a general point of law does the president of the United States of America have the authority to demand legal action against news organisations broadcasting what he does not want heard?
I'd very surprised, and alarmed for the USA, if such demands are allowed.
Oh, the previous use of the word Truth as title was as Pravda, that of the USSR's State-run newspaper.
(I realise many broadcasters in America are commercial, with few public-service and no State ones - and I take it the FCC has regulatory powers somewhat like those of "Ofcom" in the UK? The latter keeps broadcasters to their obligation to separate clearly facts from opinions, report facts and quotes as objectively, accurately and fairly as possible, and to ensure fair dealings with all sides in debates of views.)

@ArishMell I can tell you what I know is that he keeps claiming that MSNBC, CBS, CNN, and other news networks he doesn't like are illegal. I heard he was planning to unveil his own news network, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

@LordShadowfire he has been talking about that since the first term.
But he cannot declare news outlets illegal.
Again...EXECUTIVE ORDERS ARE NOT LAWS.
Anyone bowing down and capitulating to them is, in fact breaking precedent and law and procedure.
If people continue to treat EOs this way....it plays right into their hands. They have effectively dismantled 2 of the 3 branches:
Legislation and judicial.

@JaggedLittlePill you are preaching to the choir. We need to stop acting like he has absolute authority, just because he likes to RP that he does.

@LordShadowfire I know...i am just pissed off lol

@JaggedLittlePill Good. We need to be. We all need to be.

@LordShadowfire President Trump seems to trade on uncertainty and what might be widening mistrust in any source of information. Hard to think what he might gain from it though.

@LordShadowfire something else: after dismantling Voice of America he's allowing One America News Network- the extreme right propaganda network that helped Trump spread his stolen election lie- to use VOA as a feed for them to have a global megaphone. So the government funded news network that was born in WW2 to combat Hitler's propaganda machine is now officially the Trump America propaganda machine.

@robingoodfellow That's ironic.
