It has already started.

Within hours of Donald Trump making the announcement that he was going to rescind employment protection for trans people, companies all around the country started firing them. No reason was given, or at most, they were told it was for bookkeeping reasons.

The war has begun.

Forcing people to associate is as bad as forcing them to not associate. We are all equal under the law and we are all free to pick our friends and should likewise be free to pick our employees. A workplace is a social environment among other things. The government shouldn’t have a say so in who we marry or who date or hang out with, nor who our coworkers are.

@Heartlander It is not acceptable to deny someone a job based 100% on their race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

@CorvusBlackthorne But OK to discriminate against the best qualified because they are the wrong color, or gender, or etc’?

The result of the government insisting on who we can and can’t hire has done more to create disharmony than otherwise.

I quite literally just said the opposite of what you pretend I said. Why is it you lot always resort to lying when you cannot win an argument?
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@CorvusBlackthorne ouch. My comment wasn’t intended as an attack, just my opinion on the subject, not on you. My issue is that equity takes away freedom of choice. Inclusion is a different issue.

@Heartlander And my issue is that you lot have a preschooler's understanding of what it means to have equity or equality. You think that giving everyone the same resources, in spite of the fact that some folk need more help than others, is fair. It is not, and should be ended as a practice.

For example, were medical centers to provide wheelchairs at no charge for those patients who cannot walk, would you be jealous of that? Would you be angry that you were not permitted a free wheelchair? Or suppose artificial limbs were provided at no cost to the patient? Would you storm the hospital, demanding your artificial limb, even though you do not need one?

That is the difference between equality and equity. You have no need of the resources certain other Americans do need, yet you complain because you cannot access them.
