I Hate Donald Trump

Ok, maybe *hate* is a strong word...
I used to watch his goofy reality tv show the Apprentice- it was fun, mindless entertainment. I read his book, "The Art of the Deal". It is striking to me how much he wanted to portray himself as this middle class guy- he states in the book he is an independent voter and came from a modest background. I have toured a few Trump towers- they are ok and kind of amusing for their gaudy, gold facade signaling bad taste. But whatever- Donald Trump has been entertaining and amusing the public for decades with his antics. I think he isn't an evil guy and he really does want to do good things for everyone.
I applaud that he has been diligent and hard working about keeping his promises on his platform since taking office. I really respect his work ethic and sense of responsibility to his base. Some of his policies - like building america's infrastructure I support.

What I have a problem with is everything else-
1.) he needs to behave like a grown up. My kids all under age 10 demonstrate more empathy and maturity than he does. He is not "shaking things up", he is digging his own grave with his immaturity and twitter feed. At times his behavior appears pathological- fitting the criteria of narcissism. This is never a good trait to see in a leader.
2.) he needs to learn to listen and when to let it go. He has strong opinions which is a good quality, but he needs to consider all of the facts and the big picture before he gets feisty. He seems to have difficulty discerning facts from the narrative he wants to believe.
3.) the advisers and cabinet members he is surrounding himself with ARE generally homogenous and not that distinguished. That's concerning.
4.) he needs to act like a leader and not a tyrant. America and the world expects this. A leader plays to their natural strengths and leans on a diverse group of others when there is a gap in their abilities. He needs a good dose of humility as this is THE FIRST TIME he has ever had a government position. The US govt operates very differently from
A corporation. Humility is not a weakness!
5.) he has to understand that while he did win the electoral college, he did not win the majority vote and there will be blowback if he pushes too much change too soon. He would be wise to take an incremental approach to some of the changes he wants to see.
6.) he needs to treat everyone with the respect he wants to be shown. If you want respect it is earned through your actions- never demanded.

Maybe in four years I will eat my words and he will be a great leader who delivers a great America again. But less than a month into his presdidency - im not holding my breath. Time will tell...

He also needs to not be a racist asshole and learn that the world doesn't revolve around him.

Illegal is not a race.

@MrBrownstone: what's illegal about people with green cards and visas coming over. That's how it starts. Lol
Next naturalized American citizens are going to be treated differently.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@original8: Nothing. That's the problem. But I think we do need to do better job screening immigrants.

@MrBrownstone: what exactly would you change?

@Mrsmeta: People with criminal background should not be allowed in.
Mrsmeta · 46-50, F
They are already screened for that
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Mrsmeta: Not always.

@MrBrownstone: you should at least had vetted the executive order before applying it. This dudes make up things after they sign things. Lol.
Still no anwer on what's replacing Obama care. All I've heard is going to be great.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@original8: Well the 7 countries were picked by obama. No one said a word about it then.
Trump is a racist, no question; he has a history that has proven as much. Anyone in denial about that fact has only to look at his treatment and disrespect of the previous president on a personal level. And that's just recently. The discrimination suits that have been leveled against him as an employer and property owner go back decades.

@MrBrownstone: I wonder why? Funny how no one remembers that or when Carter stopped all travel from Iran to the US when he was president. 😉

@bijouxbroussard: He has done a lot for minorities with his own money and has for years. Check his record. 😉
@nudistsueaz: People remember about President Carter. It's just not comparable, for the following reasons:

It was one country (Iran) and if you recall, the Shah (a U.S. ally) had been deposed and U.S. citizens taken hostage in the country. Iranians---religion not specified.

According to Polifact:
"Carter’s attorney general, Benjamin Civiletti, on Nov. 13, 1979, ordered all Iranians with student visas to report to U.S. immigration officials by Dec. 14 or else face possible deportation...
Federal judge Joyce Hens Green initially ruled the order unconstitutional on Dec. 12, 1979, but her ruling was later reversed on appeal. On Sept. 22, 1980, the Times, citing an Immigration and Naturalization Service spokesman, reported that by that date, nearly 60,000 students had registered as required, about 430 had been deported and 5,000 had left voluntarily.

As for visas for Iranians other than students, on April 7, 1980, about five months into the hostage crisis, Carter went to the White House briefing room to announce a series of sanctions against Iran."

As for Trump's purported "good deeds", perhaps the following is what you're referring to. This lists and puts them in perspective:

you can't trust snoops, it's funded by a political party
@nudistsueaz: Yeah, right, that's why conservatives on the site have used it to support their points of view. I trust what I knew about the man when he was refusing to sell or rent to blacks and kept getting caught.

😉....never let the facts ruin a good story
@nudistsueaz: You mean, like the Bowling Green massacre, for example ? That was quite a story, wasn't it ? 😉
