More on tRUMP’s “mystery beef”

In what it says is an attempt to bring down beef prices, the Trump administration is importing 660 million pounds of Brazilian beef. But "Fast Food Nation" author Eric Schlosser warns that this move will only lead to more food safety problems. Schlosser joins "The Takeout" to discuss.

294 643 long tons (I am not sure which you use in the USA, but it's the same volume and mass of beef);

299 731 tonne.

I wondered how much beef America chomps through in a year, but I could not readily find anything other than how much the "average" American eats; and it does vary over the years. The quoted import target seems a fairly small proportion of the total though.

Aside from the very justifiable fears about compromising food standards, flooding the market with cheap imports will drive many domestic producers out of business, raising prices for everyone in the medium to long term 🤦‍♀

As you point out:

This is nothing more than a response by Demented Donnie to solve a problem he created with his own policies which solves nothing and only makes the problem worse while also creating a whole host of new problems!

And that explains a great deal about the continuous downward spiral of our country since this Demented Fool resumed the Oval Office.
