Who cares about them just another socialist attempt to see if socialism works, which we all know it doesn’t, the healthcare system sucks, you have to wait weeks if not months to see a specialist in Canada and I can usually see one in less than a week

@Prison1203 Nobody said it was free - least of all me.
Tell me - how much of a tax increase would be required to pay for Universal Healthcare? The question is moot, I suppose, because those who make profits from america's current 'system' simply will never allow it.
America's sick and injured are being farmed

@Prison1203 who is feeding you such nonsense? 😂
In Australia Universal Healthcare is funded from a Medicare Levy - set at 2% of assessable income.
If you earn $92,000 a year and after exemptions your taxable income is set at $80,000 then your MediCare Levy will be $1,600 per year.
Both the MediCare Levy and your income tax are deducted from your pay each week or month - whenever you are paid.
Tax = typically 30% of income minus exemption each month = $2,000
MediCare Levy = 2% of income minus exemption each month = $130
That $130 means that if you have a stroke, spend a week in ICU, three more weeks in the hospital with rehabilitation and therapy, follow-up care, medications for life, specialist consultations and reviews - nobody is going to send you a bill.
Here in New Zealand we fund healthcare from the government's general revenue stream.
The idea of a hospital sending a bill is ridiculous.
Of course, some Kiwi carry their own insurance, or prefer to use private hospitals, but that's completely their choice.
I underwent a minor procedure a few months ago and it was carried out at a private clinic but paid for by the government - simply becase the clinic had some free space and it makes good sense to free up the system when the chance arises.
