Loathed Trump struggling to avoid boos at public appearances

AlterNet reports:

By Adam Lynch

“MS NOW reports President Donald Trump — or at least his handlers — know well how much the public is hating on him right now.

“Since Teddy Roosevelt, American presidents have regularly given commencement addresses at this time of year. … But setting aside the substance of the speeches, the locations themselves are telling — and that is especially true for President Donald Trump,” MS NOW reports, pointing out that Trump has limited his speaking engagements to military academies like the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy.

“… [T]the only nonmilitary colleges at which Trump has given commencement addresses in both of his terms were the private, evangelical Liberty University in 2017 and the University of Alabama in 2025, both just months after taking office,” said MS NOW. “That is a striking break from his predecessors.”

Trump avoids going into situations where he might be publicly challenged, reports MS NOW.

“Over the years, he has prematurely ended tough interviews with journalists and even skipped some political debates, instead preferring tightly screened political rallies, softball interviews with conservative media and dinners at his private country clubs in Florida and New Jersey,” said MS NOW. “For the commander in chief, military academies are the ultimate safe space.”

Trump also made sure that his two non-military addresses were at the hyper-right-wing Liberty University and the University of Alabama, which “sits in a state that handed Trump some of his highest percentage wins across his three presidential campaigns.”

MS NOW report Trump likes to look tough with appearances at auto manufacturing facilities, Fraternal Order of Police lodges, the border wall and Ultimate Fighting Championship matches, but Trump appears to be made of squish.

Additionally, the two commencement addresses at private colleges Trump did give before he became president drove the two schools to regret their invite.

“In 1988, when he was known as a high-flying New York real estate developer, Trump gave a graduation speech at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, receiving an honorary doctor of laws degree as part of the custom. In 2004, when he was better known as the host of the reality TV show “The Apprentice,” he gave a speech at Wagner College on Staten Island.”

But on Jan. 8, 2021, just after the attack on the Capitol, MS NOW reports the two schools separately announced that they had officially stripped Trump of the honorary degrees. And a Scottish university had pulled its own honorary degree — leaving Trump two honors awarded by Liberty University.”

My comments:

Not just Demented Donnie but members of his misadministration, too. At a recent address to the Cadets at the United States Air Force Academy JD Vance was soundly booed leading him to yell at the audience that they were not allowed to boo him.

If a boo falls in the forest and there is no one around - does it still make a sound?
Trump can try to avoid being booed at his events - but he is still being booed all around the world - and those boos are being heard loud and clear. Cheers and happy weekend!
