A TV game show depicted trump as some sort of 'deal maker' and being a narcissist he believed that nonsense. In reality he's a hopelessly incompetent businessman who required constant guidance and instruction from the show's producers.
Even now, still living in his fantasy world, he constantly talks about 'deals' as were that the point and purpose of the Presidential office, and talks as if 'deals' can be made within days - but in reality agreements usually take years to negotiate, and require responsible, knowledgeable, adults to be in the room.

Even if Trump returns here with no new China deals, he is keeping the lines of communication open with them and participating in open diplomatic relations with them. What would you rather have, peaceful diplomatic relations with China or an all out war with them?

Yes, so far there's a repayment amount of between $166 billion and $175 billion, plus potential interest. The refunds go directly to importers (businesses) that paid the tariffs, not to consumers who paid higher prices.

@justanothername The Chinese have a history of playing the Long Game. They know Trump is not to be believed and that America wont keep Trumps promises (Trump Phone anybody?). So they will be free to issue all kinds of promises of their own, all based on HIS performance. The economic truth is that, like Iran, China holds all the cards here and only has to stand back and watch while America bleeds out from the belly wound that is Trump..
I hate to say this, but Americas only viable option is to start a really good sized war against a major player.. As insane as this sounds, its the only option with a possible winning strategy. And a very slim one at that. Because if I can work that out, so can the Chinese, Russians and even Canadians. And they wont take the bait.😷
