The Atlantic reports that Trump allies say he's "begun thinking about himself less as a peer of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln," and more as an addition to the trifecta of "great men," Alexander the Great, Julius Cesar and Napoleon Bonaparte. Alexander's empire collapsed on his death, Julius marked the end of the Republic, Napoleon coopted the French Revolution.

None of them are exactly worthy of emulation. Or perhaps only someone similarly unworthy would think they were.

I truly met Napoleon Bonaparte when I was about 17. I was doing voluntary work in a large mental hospital in Birmingham, England. Nice chap.

The best comparison for tRump is Nero Caesar: a reign of narcissistic excess followed by removal from office (Nero died at age 30 from assisted suicide). After which the people of Rome destroyed his monuments and literally buried his golden palace.
