Are left facing regimes in danger from Trump?

The so called special relationship between the USA and the United Kingdom is at an all time high risk because Starmer has been flexing his Maduro-esque desire to imprison anyone who opposes him, and he has been cancelling local government elections because he’s afraid of losing….

He has not cancelled any elections, this is a falsehood that was made up by Reform UK and is being parotted by our compliant right wing media. Many local authorities are in the process of being restructured to remove two tiers of government. To avoid holding an election that would be valid for less than a year after which it would have to be held again, the government has recommended that some elections be postponed until the restructuring is complete. Most councils have been happy to comply as running any election is very expensive.

The prison population of the UK is around 92,000. If this is the total sum of everyone who opposes Starmer, he must be pretty popular by modern standards.

There has never been any kind of special relationship.

When they talk about the special relationship in the media, its entirely a delusion of the British ruling class. A kind of post-empire needing to see ourselves as BFF to the world's most powerful country.

Ask any American about the 'special relationship' they they have never heard of it. Precious yank president humoured us from time to time because it cost them nothing. Why would be a more valuable ally to the old America than Germany or France? They speak their language and they liked Harry Potter but that does not make us special.

What has changed is that the US no longer sees Britain or anyone in Europe as any kind of ally. Its crude power politics.
Trump is mostly concerned about staying in power. After this term is finished, he has to leave, and he doesn’t want to. He’s looking for a lifetime administration—strictly against our Constitution. He’s also trying keep a scandal at bay with the Epstein files which could prove he was involved with Jeffrey Epstein’s pedophile ring. Any other candidate’s career would already be over, even with the suggestion. But Trump, as a convicted criminal when he began this term, continues to be "bulletproof”.

@bijouxbroussard I think that there is a reasonable chance that Trump dies during the term. He is less involved than he used to be and is showing symptoms of ill health. He is obese and 79.

UK is a nuclear state. Theyre safe.

@BlueVeins We have Trident nuclear submarines that we bought from the US. The US even has the launch codes so the British military needs permission from the US to use them. I am not making this up,

Some genius British negotiator thought this would be no big deal, obviously, because America would always be a trusted ally.

Jokes aside, I am not worried about the Trump regime trying to annex Britain but only because there is no profit motive.

@Burnley123 It's operationally independent actually. You need the US for the production and the maintenance of the vectors, but not for the launch

And anyway better than nothing. If Denmark and the rest of the rest of the gang had something similar we wouldn't be in this precarious geopolitical situation..
