After WW11 The nations of the world agreed

No more invasions, no more sanctions, no more regime changes. My mother always said the Americans were not very literate and I kind of laughed it off until I heard that in the 70 years since the UN was formed the US has engaged in 70 regime changes. That isn't counting the illegal bombings or the other invasions where thousands of innocents have been killed. So sad because the MAGA crowd cheered when Trump said the US was going to stop doing regime changes. Suddenly when Trump changes the regime all the MAGA are cheering. Strange creatures and completely inconsistent thinking.

The Soviet Union had pushed for an absolute veto power for the permanent members of the UN Security Council of even bringing up an issue before the Security Council during discussions about the UN Charter at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. in 1944. The British delegation had at least argued that the veto power should not be allowed when pertaining to an issue involving that member country.

During the Yalta conference discussions continued but President Truman felt that without giving the five permanent members of the UN Security Council veto power over action the U.S. Senate would never approve U.S. entry into the United Nations.

So, that concession was arrived at in the hope the permanent members of the UN Security Council would use it responsibly.

So sad because the MAGA crowd cheered when Trump said the US was going to stop doing regime changes. Suddenly when Trump changes the regime all the MAGA are cheering. Strange creatures and completely inconsistent thinking.

It just goes to show that MAGA isn't about any core principles. It is about loyalty to Trump.

I have talked to several who voted for Trump because he said no more wars or regime changes. America first etc.

That was the promise, right? All the criticism he threw in Bush's direction.

Voters do not like admitting when they were wrong. They will dig in.

But until those voters reject Trumpism and Trump lackeys in Congress, then they are just hypocrites and Trump and his minions will continue to control the Republican Party.

@beckyromero If the Republican congress critters are still in office. Mid terms this year may be catastrophic for Trump's agenda (what ever that is), I believe that Mamdani was elected because of Trump's failure to keep his word.

Dems may control the House before the midterms. MTG resigned effective today and Rep. Doug LaMalfa (CA-1st) passed away.

If all current Members were to vote, the GOP can afford just two defections (if all Democrats vote in opposition).

But due to the way the GOP is defending House seats by picking their voters (i.e. the redistricting wars), the midterm results will be short of catastrophic in terms of numbers. The key is that if the Dems win the House they will control the committee (i.e. control of the gavel). And that gavel will come crashing down on Trump's head with investigations, subpoenas and far more oversight.

They sell us regime change as some kind of noble act. And I think some leaders truly believe it. But how many times has the leader we helped win power become the guy we later want removed?
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
It wasn’t a regime change, it was the capture of a fugitive of law that wasn’t the duly elected president, he just refused to give up power like a dictator

After years of tying themselves in unimaginable knots, dealing with hypocrisy and outright lies, they can't undo.
The people that put this administration in power are the very people it is harming the most.

Weren't you once a big trump supporter?

Maybe your listening to the wrong guy ?????
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@pdockal Or maybe I am hearing the same story from other people in the US. The economy is not growing like it should be if it were healthy.

Your listening to the wrong sources
The USA has always been illegal and illegitimate and unbeatable.
You took these people's leader from them, there's nothing they can do except demonatrate in their own streets.
And Americans know they're completely safe from all accountability, nobody's going to do nothing!!!

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout that is totally irrelevant--many world leaders were not--should we now remove Putin--the list is long--would you have even advocated for Maduro being the one before your hero did this??

Was Biden elected? Zelensky's term expired a year ago. Netanyahu is prolonging the war to keep himself in power so he doesn't go to jail. He is also charged with genocide. Do you think Iran should do a raid like the US and make Bibi stand trial?

Iran should do what the US did. Put a big bounty on netandyahoo's head, charge him with a long list of crimes, and kidnap him. If the US can do such things then all other countries are free to do them as well.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Diotrephes Completely agree. The Rubicon has been crossed. The ship has sailed. The barriers are gone. Don't like a leader? Trump up some charges and take him out. In Netanyahu the case is already made in the ICC where he is wanted on charges of genocide.
