Does Trump want American farms to fail?

For the past week or so Trump has been saying that he might put heavy tariffs on fertilizers.
Right now the US imports over 80% of its needed fertilizers. And the reason for that is because the US doesn't have a lot of the minerals and chemicals that are needed to make potash – a vital nutrient in fertilizers. So soon 80% of American farmers might be paying way more for their fertilizers. So I figure Trump either didn’t think this thing through – or he wants American farms to fail because of some diabolical plan of his. Cheers!

At the same time he plans on giving the farms $12 Billion in aid. Why doesn't he just bring down tarrifs? Potash is not going to move to the US overnight if at all so there is no point trying to patriot it.

Slowly, very very slowly he is starting to realize why tarrifs are bad.

@JimboSaturn I think Trump has already realized tariffs can be bad - but he is so pigheaded he will never admit he was wrong and he will keep up his tariff this and tariff that BS. Cheers!
