‘Simply calling them terrorists does not make them so’: Ret. Army JAG on Caribbean airstrikes

[media=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7m-1fX97CLE]

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is doubling down on his defense of U.S. strikes against alleged drug boats in the face of mounting criticism. Retired Army JAG Lt. Col. Dan Maurer joins the Weekend to discuss.

“Emphatically they were ship wrecked. I think no fair reading of the the law, yet alone the DoD Manual which is simply a re-statement of common principles of law, could you interpret what you saw in that video as someone who was demonstrating any kind of hostile act or any type of hostile intention…”

—Lt Col Dan Maurer, US Army JAG (Ret) on Admiral Bradley’s statement to lawmakers.

There is really no way to justify what they have done. The law is perfectly clear.
@MoveAlong Thank you
@MoveAlong Literally the shipwrecked out-of-the-conflict scenario in their own LOAC manual!

@MoveAlong they are gaslighting the country stating that there is a war on drugs and that the people on those boats are enemy combatants. He used the actual term they are bringing their drugs into the US to kill our children!

The cult are easily gaslighted. They don't have much senes anyway.

@MoveAlong The cult is only about 20-40% of the population. This gaslighting affects everyone. I am even scratching my head about the way the attacks are being reported by administration. I suppose they believe that if they are openly doing it, and reporting it often enough, it will become normalize, aka gaslit.
@MoveAlong True.

Best argument for pushing some critical thinking which we in the US push off into "1st year of college" into High School.

The memorize/regurgitate method hasn't worked, and the 19th-century approach to education K-5 with non-specialists has left us with ppl who have no understanding of STEM bc they have a shaky base.
@samueltyler2 That’s tRUMP’s typical scenario: make up a false narrative and disseminate it immediately. Those early lies are often obvious, amateurish lies that are quickly shot full of holes. So then you put out Lyin’ Leavitt to spin, spin, spin hoping some aspect of the spin either convinces or confuses your base, then you roll out your loyal MAGAts like Mike Johnson to lie, distract, deny, accuse, etc.

But they’ve really screwed up here with such obviously phony nonsense, repeatedly revising their narratives which are in serious contradictions of each other, often with two or more of their surrogates spinning alibis that are diametrically opposed to each other…

Even the dense Republican Congressmen, Senators, and FAUX News “personalities” are questioning them—and some of those are beginning to admit that Demented Donnie and his misadministration are deliberately lying…

@samueltyler2 If just that 20 or 40 percent were educated and rational it would be a monumental shift. But it's not just the cult. So many who know the truth and understand it don't give a sh!t.

@SomeMichGuy …which, of course, is even worse…

And it is a brazen contradiction for Donald Trump to pardon former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted and sentenced for drug trafficking in 2024. That demonstrates just how “serious” Demented Donnie is about all this…

This whole series of illegal, extrajudicial murders by Demented Donnie & Kegsbreath are all about Venezuelan oil!
